Kenny Gould writes science fiction and fantasy books for both kids and adults with high stakes, strange worlds, and at least one deeply questionable companion.

His most popular book, The Castle of 1,000 Doors, features a fast-talking, electromagnetically charged potato named Spud—which should tell you everything you need to know.

Before writing fantasy, he spent years as one of the country’s foremost beer writers, contributing to Bon Appétit, Men’s Health, Gear Patrol, and Thrillist. In 2017, he founded Hop Culture, a beer magazine that was acquired in 2020 by Untappd.

Kenny holds a BA in English from Duke University, an MFA from Chatham University, and an MBA from NYU Stern—none of which adequately prepared him to write about weaponized potatoes.

If you enjoy chaotic adventures, dangerous dungeons, and the occasional talking vegetable, you’re in the right place.
